My Story
Multidisciplinary Artist | Executive Director & Chief Curator, Black Futures in Art
My journey as an artist is deeply rooted in the places I've lived, the cultures that have shaped me, and the experiences that continue to inform how I see the world.
Born in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and raised in Princeton, New Jersey, I developed an early appreciation for color, beauty, and creative expression. My studies in fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and fashion illustration and visual art at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh established the foundation for a multidisciplinary creative practice that continues to evolve.
Based in Lafayette, Colorado, my artistic practice moves between abstraction, surrealism, and intuitive exploration. Working primarily with acrylics, oils, inks, and oil pastels, I create layered compositions that explore identity, memory, resilience, vulnerability, joy, and the emotional complexities of the human experience.
Painting, for me, is both an act of discovery and a conversation with the unknown. Through layers of color, texture, movement, and expressive gestures, I allow each composition to reveal itself. Forms emerge, disappear, and reappear. What begins as an expression of my own experience becomes an invitation for others to discover something of themselves.
I believe art should do more than occupy a beautiful space. It should awaken curiosity, stir emotion, challenge perception, and create moments of connection.
That philosophy extends beyond my studio.
As Executive Director and Chief Curator of Black Futures in Art, I lead a cultural platform dedicated to expanding the visibility, recognition, and opportunities available to Black contemporary artists. Through exhibitions, educational programming, and community engagement, my curatorial work challenges traditional boundaries of representation while cultivating spaces for artistic excellence, cultural expression, and meaningful dialogue.
My contributions to the arts and community have been recognized with the Boulder Chamber's 2024 Women Who Light the Community Award and the 2023 Best of the West Readers' Choice Art Award.
Whether creating work in my studio or shaping exhibitions that bring artists and communities together, my purpose remains rooted in the transformative possibilities of art: its ability to connect us, challenge what we think we know, and reveal beauty in unexpected places.
Art is not simply what I create. It is how I engage with the world—and how I invite the world to engage with itself.
